The Grammys are airing February 12, and hosted by the one and only, James Corden of Carpool Karaoke who’s had the opportunity in the past few years to sing alongside more than a few of this year’s nominees. Last month, the nominees for the 59th Grammy Awards were announced over a whopping 84 categories. Now that it’s less than a month out from the date we’re gearing up to get ready for our favorites to take a win.
With the past year in music, it came as no surprise that our girl Beyoncé is leading the charge with 9 total nominations. Unsurprising with her ground breaking and quickly iconic Lemonade and the her album video she released alongside it. Bey is followed by none other than Drake, Rihanna, and Kanye West with 8 nominations each after an amazing year in music. Really, who didn’t have “Work” stuck in their heads for weeks after it was released and Teyana Taylor in “Fade?” Don’t get us started.
Adele, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande make appearances on the nomination list as well. And office fan favorites, Chance The Rapper and Anderson .Paak, has been nominated for Best New Artist.
This year has been history making, with a more and more multicultural artists being nominated for not only the Grammys but the Oscars as well. We here at Cashmere have been excited for the forward movement in diversity and inclusivity and this year’s Grammy nominations are a testament to this progress.
