The Day N Night festival returned this past weekend in it’s new location of the Angel Stadium in Anaheim. Headlined by Chance the Rapper, Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar, the mosh pit-filled event spanned over three days.
Notable acts ranged from known fan favorites 21Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, Post Malone, YG and SZA to newcomers like Daniel Caesar, Khalid, Ugly God and Jay IDK. Though the show maintained ‘turnt up’ vibes throughout, many were pleasantly surprised to see artists, like Vic Mensa and YG, using their platform to address politics during their sets.
Chance the Rapper brought Saturday to a close paying tribute to his fellow Chicago native Kanye West, performing songs like “Waves” and “Father Stretch My Hands” in front of images of them together. He ended the show by bringing us back to church with hits like “Angels” and West’s “Ultralight Beam”, a song with one of his most notable features to date.
In a return to the festival circuit shortly after Coachella and fresh off the DAMN. tour, Kendrick Lamar closed out the weekend with tracks from his latest album like “DNA” and “ELEMENT” before taking us back with tracks like “Swimming Pools” and “King Kunta”. Lamar took a moment to thank his Day 1 fans before the smooth segue into his latest hit, “Loyalty”.
Looks like this year’s Day N Night festival did not disappoint.
