Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap 2-3-13Check out what the Cashmere crew got up to this Super Bowl weekend!! We caught some theater, moved (!!), got our nails did, and watched some good ol' fashioned football and commercials.unnamed-1As some of you may know, the Lunar New Year was this past weekend. That said, it was the perfect excuse to pig out! Happy Chinese New Year! So during the game, not only was I watching the football on the field, but also paying attention to the commercials and the real-time marketing opportunities on social media. After Oreo’s famous tweet last year, I knew many brands would be jumping on the chance to hit the jackpot tweet, with many brands even setting up social media “war rooms” during the game. There were a lot of good ones, but my two favorites came from JC Penney and DiGiorno Pizza.Screen Shot 2014-02-03 at 12.34.41 PMJC Penney started off the night with two tweets looking like they were written by a drunk person who was a 12-pack deep before the game even started. But what made it awesome was that other brands were commenting to them, driving more attention to their feed. Then, they posted a tweet saying they were actually tweeting with mittens, because the game was supposed to be freezing. Good job grabbing attention through the noise and relating it back to the real event. (See screenshot of the thread above).Screen Shot 2014-02-03 at 12.39.37 PMMy other favorite real-time marketing win was from DiGiorno. Throughout the game, they were commenting on various plays, dropping pizza and delivery references to strengthen their message, that its better to cook it home. The best of the night came in the third quarter, when the game was getting out of hand. Although they probably put a lot of time and money into their real-time tweeting, this one really hit the spot.–Kyle (Twitter|Instagram)1387305777_aniliad_feat_03Kicked off this Super Bowl weekend by attending a play on Friday night. The Iliad starring Tony Award-winner Denis O'Hare was a captivating modern day interpretation of Homer's classic poem.I recommend the play, and I highly recommend people consider checking out the Broad Theatre. It was my first time there, and I didn't realize that there was such a world class venue located right in heart of Santa Monica.–Jesse (Twitter|Instagram)weekendrecapThis weekend was filled with amazing sports. Watched the friendly USA vs. Korea game. USA won. On Saturday UFC 169 took place, all my predictions were on point except for the Frank Mir vs. Allistair Overeem fight. Allistair killed Frank Mir. I think my prediction for that is Franks gonna/gotta retire soon. And of course, the Superbowl. I can't believe how wack it was. Everything that could go bad for the Bronco's did. Le Sigh*–Jane (Twitter|Instagram)imageI went over Ryan Ford's house for a Super Bowl viewing party and hung out with coworkers and met some new cool people! My favorite part of the Superbowl was Bruno Mars' halftime performance show. He rocked it!—Bree (Twitter|Instagram)Screen Shot 2014-02-03 at 1.03.39 PMThis weekend I moved into a new apartment! I was pretty excited about this move because I no longer have an hour commute to the office and am a lot closer to friends and the heart of LA! Looking forward to getting settled in further this week and implementing some fun interior design ideas! #PinterestObsessions–Emily (Twitter|Instagram)picstitchEnjoyed getting my nails done at the popular Laqué Nail Bar. You have to schedule appointments months in advance or be subject to a 4-hour wait as a walk-in... eekkk. And to top off the weekend, Ryan Ford's Super Bowl bash was a hit + so was the Seahawks! Happy that the team and their defense showed up and showed out on the field.–Misty (Twitter|Instagram)
