Weekend Recap

IMG_5862 (1)On Saturday, I took my parents to their first UCLA game in 15 years. I grew up having season tickets, but they haven't been back since we last went in 2000. It was a great atmosphere and fun game, until they lost on the last play!

IMG_5878On Sunday, I finally got to check out Eli Broad's new art exhibit in Downtown LA. There were so many great collections of artists that I love, like Haring, Koons, and Basquiat. I didn't have enough time to check out Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Room, but that just means I have to go back! –Kyle (Twitter|Instagram)

IMG_3525When I went to Portland a couple weeks ago, I went to the famed thai restaurant, Pok Pok. It was so good but I was bummed that we'd have to go all the way to Portland for some legit authentic Thai food (Portland.. random right?). However, they just opened up a restaurant in Chinatown and I went there on Saturday... and it's just as bomb!!!! So good I'm so excited they are open in LA now! –Michelle (Instagram)

Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 11.58.14 AMMy mom came into town this weekend so I was mainly hanging out with her. We did a little shopping, ate some good food, and it was really nice to hangout and spend time with her. Sunday night we went to dinner for my brother's birthday which was really fun but I'm still in a food coma. Jake (Twitter | Instagram)

Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 11.58.53 AMI've always secretly loved ordering Shirley Temples. It's a simple drink made with 7up and grenadine, but that touch of grenadine makes for a delicious drink. After befriending a pomegranate grower at the West LA Farmers market, she told us that she had a huge stock of fruit that would go bad if it wasn't used soon. That got me intrigued with what we could make using pomegranates, and that's when I learned that the original recipe for grenadine was simply just pomegranate juice and sugar. After about an hour of deseeding a few pounds of pomegranates we had enough juice to get started. The result was a delicious, preservative free syrup that will be used to make mixed drinks in the holiday season. Here's the recipe I used here. –Jesse (Twitter|Instagram)image (1)This weekend I binge watched the original Star Wars trilogy. Just about a month away from the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens. –Austin (Twitter|Instagram)
