Skateistan is an organization that builds skate parks and leads educational & creative programs to empower the youth of Kabul and Cambodia.  Please check out these beautifully moving videos:

On Sunday March 31st 2013, artists, activists, and the skate community will come together in an art benefit to raise money for the organization.  A mixture of custom skate decks, paintings, prints, books, and film portraits will be showcased and available for sale from a far-reaching roster of incredible artists including Chris PastrasRetna, Tim Kerr, Shepard FaireyClint PetersonChad MuskaAlia PennerDeedee CherielSkullphone, Meena Saifi, Rick RobinsonGeoff Moore, Jason Gillis, Dave McFarlnad,  A Chris Johanson & Barry Mcgee signed deck, Tony Hawk, Philip Salick, Amy Jo Diaz, Daniel Gibson, ABCNT,  Drew Bienemann & Aaron Thomas, Annie Madison, Kube, Patch Davis & No Shane, Mecca Collective, Benjamin Scharf, A1one, Emmerich Konrad, Chase and others.

NOMAD Gallery is hosting the event, a printmaking studio and art compound located in Northeast Los Angeles’s Frogtown. NOMAD Gallery’s vision is to serve the community as a catalyst for creative collaboration, and offers space for filming, photo shoots, workshops, and special events. The space also features a pop-up barber shop and tattoo parlor.

The day will include interactive installations throughout the space: from the Elisa "Sol" Garcia's Imix bookshop and a meditation pyramid to “The PEACE Photo Project” — the first human photo petition created to bring awareness and peace by capturing countless individuals in all walks of life and colors of the flesh, as posing for artivist Azul 213.

Courtyard food and drinks from Frey Wines, Golden Road Brewing Company, and The Hungry Nomad food truck. Music from Embassy: DJ Ana Calderon and Dave Orlando.

EVENT TIME: 3PM-7PM

SILENT AUCTION ENDING AT 6:45PM.  Buyers have the option to take work they buy with them the same day.  Proceeds from the event go to Skateistan.
