How Dr. Dre is Dominating The Entertainment World

As I am sure you have noticed, Dr. Dre is having quite a powerful month in the worlds of music, branding and entertainment. Over the past two weeks, Dre has released a hit film, 'Straight Outta Compton', and his first studio album in 16 years, 'Compton'. The film, which revolves around controversial hip-hop group N.W.A., was released in theaters nationwide on August 14. In it's opening weekend debut, 'Straight Outta Compton' nearly doubled its box office predictions by bringing in $56 Million.  This opening weekend was the largest debut for any music biopic in history. The album, produced by Dr. Dre and other producers, features guest stars Snoop Dogg, Eminem, The Game, Kendrick Lamar, Xzibit, and many more. 'Compton' debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 charts, selling almost 300k copies in it's first week. The album also debuted exclusively on Apple Music and iTunes, building a major cultural moment for Dre and partner Jimmy Iovine, whose Beats Music Company was purchased by Apple last year. To further the internet buzz for Beats, the headphone maker released a YouTube ad featuring notable stars from Compton, including DJ Quik, YG, Marcellus Wiley, and more. The video has almost 700k views so far. It's hard to top a 2 week run as prominent as what Dr. Dre just accomplished.
