Our Favorite Moments From The 2019 BET Awards

Last night, BET may have pulled off their best award ceremony to date with yesterday’s 2019 BET Awards! What wasn’t there to like? Cardi B slayed. Mary J dominated. Lizzo was EVERYTHING. Regina Hall and Taraji P. Henson stole the show before the night could even get into a full swing!

Here are some of our favorite moments from Black entertainment’s biggest night!

Regina Hall Opens The Show With a Tribute to Go-Go

With everything that has been going on in Go-Go’s home city of D.C., after gentrifiers tried and failed to block a local business from its 24 year history of playing D.C.’s native sounds, Regina and BET kicked off the show with an amazing tribute!

Celebrating The Exonerated Five

By now, we should all be aware of the story about the Central Park Five. Five kids were railroaded and coerced into confessing to a crime they didn’t commit. Thanks to Ava DuVernay, those five boys (now men) have been able to tell their story. Seeing Kevin Richardson, Antron Mccray, Raymond Santana Jr., Korey Wise and Yusef Salaam take that BET Awards stage was powerful.

Hip Hop Pays Homage to Nipsey Hussle

If you live in Los Angeles, you know that the vibe is just different ever since losing Nipsey Hussle. He was a big part of the city and he meant so much to so many. YG, DJ Khaled, Marsha Ambrosius, and John Legend put together a great tribute for Neighborhood Nip.

Honoring Nipsey Hussle with the Humanitarian Award

Nipsey was a man of the people. It felt good to see him honored for the man he was and not just for how well he could rap. The Marathon Continues!
