Memorial Day 2013 Weekend Recap!
It was a relaxing Memorial Day Weekend for me, but I did venture out on Sunday night to Icon located in Downtown LA to see DJ Premier spin. The opening DJs weren’t too shabby either, with Mr. Choc and J-Rocc of the World Famous Beat Junkies. Shout out to The Baka Boyz and Byze One for putting together a dope gig! (left to right: Woo, Tommy Gun, Nick V) –Kelly (Twitter|Instagram)I enjoyed a great Memorial Day BBQ — previewing Roadhouse LA's menu paired with microbrews from Angel City Brewery. –Hila (Twitter|Facebook)I spent my three-day weekend out and about in LA while the sun was shining. Saturday, I went to watch my roommate perform in the LA Indie Improv Festival in Hollywood. Sunday, we continued the weekend at LA's famous backyard party, The Do Over, watching the likes of DJ Rhettmatic of The Beat Junkies and Rob Swift of the Executioners. We also found a new local carne asada fries joint at Benito's Tacos, some of the best in LA! Sunday, my friends and I gathered at Skid Row in Downtown LA to pass out over a thousand water bottles to the homeless for the holiday. We finished off the festivities with a rooftop BBQ at The Brewery Arts Complex. –Kyle (Twitter|Instagram)I had a pretty packed Memorial Day weekend. I made sure to stay out of the house as much as possible and hang with friends. I started my weekend off in our studio with two of my best friends, Kellen and Rachel. We were going over some mixdowns of a couple new releases that are going to be dropped soon on our label, RudeTOON Records. Besides taking selfies with birds at a pet store, I also consumed tons of Slurpees over the weekend since they were only 49 cents!!! Later in the night, I attended a rooftop party in Venice where I bumped into my friend, Melissa, who is responsible for me going to Haiti, knowing Jason Bentley, and working Coachella. It wouldn't be a jammed packed weekend without me discovering a new costume shop, Robinson Beautilities. Stoked to go there to grab my outfit for Comic Con. To end my Memorial Day weekend, I spent my Monday off work and at a BBQ with my buddies. Oh... And I watched and finished season 4 of Arrested Development. –Whoopi (Twitter|Instagram)This weekend was the twice annual "Fiesta Hermosa" fair where bands, artists and a beer garden take over the Hermosa pier. A bunch of our friends came down over the weekend so we checked out the various bands performing, hit the beach, and did a lot of grilling! –Sarah (Twitter|Instagram)
