HBO Invades New York Comic Con With The Watchmen
HBO created a space to celebrate diversity at New York Comic Con with the New York Comic Con Community Lounge powered by WATCHMEN. Over 6,500 attendees entered the space throughout the weekend. They were able to take photos in the interactive iTouch photo booth and have caricatures of themselves drawn by cartoonist Obi Arisuku .
The highlight of the weekend was the curated Blerd panel, It’s Time: A Conversation on Representation In The Comic Genre And What’s Next for The Culture powered by WATCHMEN. This was a special panel featuring prominent Blerd influencers. The conversation was moderated by DJ Benhameen(FOR ALL NERDS) and featured panelists Cheyenne Ewulu (PRETTY, BROWN, AND NERDY), Jourdan Barnett (THE BLERD VISION) and Omar Holmon (BLACK NERD PROBLEMS)
During the conversation, the Blerds touched on a ton of topics like the importance of having people of color in lead roles in comic series/films and how they can create change and make that representation is happening in the space.
Check out some of the photos from the experience.
